Go to the Federal Trade Commission website. By law, you are entitled to one free report each 12 months. You’ll set up a user ID and a password. The report won’t give you “scores”, but it will show accounts, histories, inquires, etc. Just look for errors, and seek to correct incorrect information. You can’t remove factual history, just work to let it age-off.

Go to AnnualCreditReport.com. ACR is the only government approved website to receive your free credit reports. You don’t need a credit card or create a username and password.
Don’t use FreeCreditReport.com or similar sites, as they require you to sign up for their credit monitoring services before you receive the actual report.

You won’t get free credit scores; you have to pay for those no matter what site you go to.
